Who we are (and who we aren't)

Who we are: Hyper local Tucsonans. Jon has lived in Tucson since 1983 and Amanda has been here on and off since 1998. We have lived in Poets Square, Samos, and other midtown neighborhoods since the 80s. Jon has completed the Tour de Tucson a few times, we’ve been going to shows at the Rialto since the 90s, and eating at the Cup Cafe the whole time. All of our kids were born here: we’ve done soccer at Himmel park and field trips to Kitt Peak. We have deep experience with the City of Tucson and their inspections processes. We are familiar with the local codes and specific requirements for building in our desert environs. 

Who we aren’t: new to Tucson. We didn’t just move here because we decided this was a market that needed our services. We love to serve our community because it’s our community that we care deeply about. 

Who we are: Construction and affordable housing skillsets.  Jon started as a laborer on a construction site. Amanda started by answering the phone in a construction office. We have worked our way up through the trades and in the industry.  Laborer, carpenter, head Framer, superintendent. Receptionist, estimator, project manager, owners representative, executive. Our experience is well rounded and concentrated in construction and affordable housing. 

Who we aren’t: marketers jumping on the bandwagon of ADUs.  Amanda started her first ADU program in 2016 after a long career in affordable housing. We also aren’t marketing professionals or web designers. We use our skills and our time to build projects that owners are happy with. We may not have the slickest website out there, but we can build you the best Casita on the best timeline with a transparent budget. 

Who we are: independent business people. We started Unstoppable, just the two of us based on our experience, skill sets, and a desire to run our own business. We have worked for many large general contractors, and we decided to apply our skills and talents locally on small builds.

Who we aren’t: a franchise. This is not one of many business locations with a handbook and a business plan backed by venture capitalists. This is literally us: building one project at a time.

Who we are: transparency in cost. We operate on a “cost plus” model with a fixed fee for our services. No markup on any line item: it costs what it costs, with a fee for us, and full transparency. You will have access to all vendor contracts and all purchasing receipts. We work with you to collaborate on a line item budget that works for you.

Who we aren’t: Cost escalators.  Most contractors give you a single price, and spend the rest of the project trying to build it as cheaply as possible to keep the difference. Their price can certainly go up, but it will never go down. Our budget model allows for adjustments based on actual field costs. if anything comes in less than estimated, Great! We adjust the budget down for a lower bottom line. We love it when that happens!
